Eco Rangers

Do you want to:

• combat climate change?
• support wildlife?
• protect our rivers, seas and oceans?
• improve our school and local community?
• learn new skills?
• make a difference?

If you answered yes, our  elected Eco Rangers will be in touch throughout the year to let you know how you can help out. 

Our Eco Committee 

This year, we have changed how we are running our Eco Committee. In order to include anybody that is passionate about the environment in our group, any children from Year 1 to 6 could apply. Miss Lamb read through all the applications and 103 children were successful in joining the Eco Rangers!

We are continuously coming up with new ideas. Each year's Eco Rangers will have the opportunity to lead a project. Take a look below at our action plan for the year, based on all the innovative ideas our Rangers have come up with.

These are some of the amazing actions we have taken in the past two years:

• Eco Rangers can access litter picking equipment every lunchtime.
• Every child in the school took part in the Big Schools Birdwatch in February to help us monitor the birdlife in our school grounds. Our junior Eco Rangers helped to lead an assembly to introduce the event to the school.
• All children were invited to Gardening Club each Friday lunchtime.
• Year 1 to 6 spent half a term raising awareness of environmental issues around the school through our weekly poster club.
• We celebrated Earth Day in 2024 with a visit from the author James Campbell, who ran sessions with every year group introducing his fantastic new book, Don't Panic, We Can Save The Planet.
• Over 100 children took part in our competition in 2024 to create a piece of Earth Art, using recyclable materials.
• All children were encouraged to celebrate Walk to School Week in June by observing amazing things they would only see if they walked, cycled or scooted.

All About David Attenborough

Our Year 3 children spent several weeks learning about the great naturalist David Attenborough in their English lessons. They wrote a biography to teach others about his work and these children decided they would like theirs published on the website.
