Wrens and Puffins news

Wrens and Puffins have enjoyed sharing the story 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra and finding out about vegetables. We have explored where different vegetables grow, how they grow and which ones end up in the freezer aisle in our supermarkets. We have had lots of fun running our own supermarket, making Wanted posters to capture 'Evil Pea' and designing traps to catch Evil Pea and creating our own 'super hero vegetables!'

We have enjoyed finding out about superheroes in our community such as doctors, firefighters and police officers and thinking about what our own super powers might be. We shared the story Superbat by Matt Carr and discovered that Superbat's super power was 'courage' which is just like being brave like Bonkers! We have talked about what other super powers we could have such as using our imagination like Sky, being busy like Buzzy bee or keeping going when things are tricky just like our learning to learn character Patrick. We are all superheroes!

Wrens and Puffins have been really busying caring for the plants, fruits and vegetables that are growing in our outside garden. We are enjoying watering our plants and watching them grow!

CEOP website supporting online safety through an interactive game

The new interactive website encourages 4-7s to engage safely online by helping them to recognise worrying, upsetting or scary situations and reinforcing the key message that they should ‘Tell A Grown Up’ in these instances.

The website is divided into sections for 4-5 and 6-7 year olds and features relevant and age-appropriate games for the chosen age bracket. Each game focuses on one of four topics:

  • watching videos
  • chatting online
  • sharing pictures
  • gaming online
The Jessie & Friends episodes are also available to watch on the new website to enhance understanding.

In the event of school closure:

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close the school. This may be due to adverse weather conditions or perhaps when essential school services cannot be provided –e.g. heating, plumbing or water.

Please refer to the School’s Bad Weather Policy on our website for information regarding how we communicate a school closure.

Class teachers will then initiate home school learning activities, and these will be available to children by 10am of the same morning.
