We are very lucky to have a Communication and Interaction Needs (COIN) Centre here at Burpham which is an integral part of our school. The centre caters for children in Key Stage One (YR to Y2) and Surrey class us as "low" COIN. Children in the centre are placed by the Local Authority through the SEND Admissions team. All children in our COIN Centre have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which names our school. We currently have 13 children on roll and these numbers are in addition to our mainstream PAN.
Children in our Parrots class have their own teacher, Ms Jane Boylett and a team of support staff who work with the children in the centre and when they integrate into their mainstream classrooms. Please have a look at the COIN Centre class page to see how the children learn.
The Local Authority provide us with a Speech and Language Therapist and Therapy Assistants two days a week, who will work with your child either 1:1 or in small groups. They work closely with the staff in the centre to ensure we are providing a language rich and communication friendly environment.
If you have any queries regarding the COIN Centre, please contact your child's Case Officer, our Teacher in Charge Ms Jane Boylett email@example.com or the Headteacher Mrs Jo White firstname.lastname@example.org .
