Olympic Times Table Challenge
When speaking to local secondary schools, the message is coming across loud and clear that one of the best ways we can prepare our children for Maths at KS3, and beyond, is to encourage them to be completely fluent with their times tables. With this in mind, we have devised the Olympic Times Table Challenge to motivate all the children at Burpham to learn their times tables.
The Olympic Challenge is held once a month, in class, for children in years 2-6. Children who pass are awarded with either an Olympian sticker or a trophy badge, along with a certificate.
Practice papers can be downloaded by clicking on the links below and details of each stage of the Olympic Challenge can be found by looking at the Olympic Challenge Chart. Each challenge must be completed in 3 minutes or under and all questions need to be answered correctly.
It would be great if you could help and encourage your child to learn their times tables and prepare them for one of the challenges. There are lots of ideas to help with this on the Maths section of this website.
UPDATE: Our new Platinum Challenge is now ready!
This challenge is for children in years 5 and 6, who have already achieved their Gold award. This challenge stretches the children's understanding of times table facts to a new level, encouraging them to apply their understanding to questions involving square and cube numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages. The practice paper can be found below, and children will be able to partake in this challenge from January 2022.
